Ngorongoro, Tanzania

Those who plan a trip to Tanzania should consider the idea of visiting the Ngorongoro Conservation area. Not too far from Kilimanjaro, it is characterized by a vast area around the homonymous crater. The volcanic origin area is the home of various species including elephants, black rhinos and many other animals as it is a real ecosystem. Organizing a safari in Ngorongoro is for sure an excellent idea if you rely on professionals.

Ngorongoro, what to see and to do

With an evocative panorama, the Ngorongoro becomes an essential stop for anyone planning a trip in Tanzania. The name that identifies the volcano has given the denomination to the whole area that now, in addition to being a natural reserve, is also a tourist reference point. The area finds itself within the caldera of the volcano in the Serengeti plain

Ngorongoro, the animals that can be admired

The Ngorongoro natural reserve hosts many species, it is a real ecosystem in which it is possible to admire a lot of different animals. The concentration of so many specimens attracts many tourists every year, who know they can see elephants, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes but also gazelles, hippos, cheetahs, hyenas and lions up close. A gem? Black rhinos, an endangered species.

Ngorongoro Crater

As mentioned before, Ngorongoro is a volcanic area and the crater is one of the unmissable stops in this area. Considered by many to be the main attraction, it contains a

very high number of wild animals. Large mammals and predators coexist in this area of incomparable charm. We want to underline that this is not just a national park, but a reserve recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ngorongoro Natural Reserve

Considered for all intents and purposes one of the wonders of the world and recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ngorongoro Natural Reserve must be absolutely included in the travel stops if you are planning to visit Tanzania. The reason for so much interest it’s not only in the suggestive landscape but also in the fact of having developed an ecosystem, according to researchers, there are more than 25.000 specimens that inhabit the crater, or rather, the caldera, in addition to the species of birds that have not been counted.

Ngorongoro, when to go

The Ngorongoro climate is influenced by the altitude but basically remains subtropical; this means that during the day you can enjoy mild temperatures, while at night the degrees could drop and it could be cooler, so that in some moments the temperature reaches zero degrees. Two are the main seasons: the dry one from june to september with very little rainfalls and the damp one from october to may, when there are a lot of short rains from october to december and long from march to may.

If you are trying to understand what is the best time to organize a holiday here, we suggest the one that goes from june to september: here the night temperatures are cool but not excessively cold and you can enjoy the presence of many animals; if you prefer seeing the migration of zebras and zebu up close, focus on january and february

How to visit Ngorongoro, the best safaris

If you are wondering what is the best way to visit the Natural Reserve we suggest the safaris in Ngorongoro. We have selected some truly suggestive experiences to book to experience the magic of the locality by exploring it in details, or by inserting it in an itinerary that touches several areas

Asante Sana Safari

The 5 days and 4 nights Asante Sana Safari experience takes its name from the Swahili expression which means “thank you very much”. The thrilling experience opens with a day dedicated to the Ngorongoro crater and all its fauna, by going to discover some animals up close, including zebras, wildebeest, flamingos but also lions, elephants and hyenas.

During the two following days the trip will be dedicated to Serengeti, a Unesco heritage site, where it is possible to see up close what are considered to be the “giants of the savannah”. The last day of the safari takes travelers to the discovery of Tarangire, a particularly green area with baobab trees and where it is possible to see up close giraffes, gazelles, warthogs, elephants and many other animals

Hakuna Matata Safari

The Hakuna Matata Safari lasts 7 days and 6 nights. The tour starts from Lake Manyara, where 22 different ecosystems coexist, then moves on to Ngorongoro on the next day, being able to visit not only the crater and the animals but also the salt marshes, lakes and swamps. 2 days are then dedicated to Serengeti to conclude everything with Tarangire, where it is possible to see other species such as giraffes or elephants.
