Safari in Tanzania with Children

There is nothing better than traveling with children. Their contagious enthusiasm, their curious eyes and their desire to learn new things are a stimulus to see the world differently. Children have always been attracted by nature and the world of animals, accomplices to the many books and documentaries. They are very intrigued by the possibility of seeing up close giraffes, zebras, flamingos, but also lions and other large predators.

Is it safe to go on a safari with children?

The question many parents ask themselves is: “how safe is a safari in Tanzania with children?”.
We want to reassure you, you can safely practice this activity even with children simply by having some extra care and relying on professional operators.

Those who have the opportunity should not delay a few years waiting for them to become teenagers, even as children they can enjoy the experience and will have incredible memories to take with them. By relying on the operators you will realize any clear indications where a starting age is indicated, that signal should discourage you from a self-experience drive and make you understand why it is important to book a safari in Tanzania only with the help of experts.

Let’s say it once and for all: Safari in Tanzania with children is not dangerous at all, but it is important to act intelligently and take the right precautions. First it is important to explain that you must always listen to the directions of the guide, then that you must never put your hands out the window. Also remember that we are guests, so do not make excessive noise that could scare or upset the animals.

In addition to the technical clothing for a safari and binoculars that could favor sightings, we recommend bringing an excellent sunscreen for children to apply several times during the day, but also anti-mosquito spray, a hat and sunglasses. Instead, leave toys and other entertainment at home, your little ones will be so interested in what they are seeing that they won’t ask for anything else

Perfect safaris with children in Tanzania

What are the best safaris you can book with your children in Tanzania?
We start from Ndutu, an experience of 8 days and 7 nights. Excluding the days of arrival and departure, we start by going to explore the Manyara Lake to which a whole day is dedicated. Here you can see up close 11 different ecosystems and animals such as pelicans, herons and flamingos along the shores of the lake. Another day is dedicated to Ngorongoro where you can see how the different ecosystems can cohabit, obviously you cannot miss the crater. The last 4 days are dedicated to Serengeti-Ndutu where you can see elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos and buffalos but also the migration of zebras and wildebeests if in the right season.

Even the Jambo Jambo Safari is perfect for those who want to visit Tanzania with the family; in this case you’ll start from Lake Manyara where you could spot many animals on the shores and then you’ll move to Ngorongoro, between crater and ecosystems. Two days are then dedicated to Serengeti to discover the Big Five within the protected area. We then head to Lake Natron known for being a salt water basin and where you can see flamingos and over 400 different species of waterfowl. It will end with Tarangire which is characterized by a lush and verdant landscape.

The Mara safari dedicates the first day to Arusha and then moves to Manyara Park where you will go on an adventure to spot wildlife; the third day is dedicated to Ngorongoro for the visit to the crater while the next two days are focused on the great migration in the area of Serengeti Mara. It then goes on in the following days with the discovery of Serengeti Centrale and Serengeti-Karatu to conclude with the Tarangire National Park.

The Asante Sana Safari is one of the shortest but complete safaris; in 5 days and 4 nights you can discover first Ngorongoro, Serengeti and finally Tarangire. During this experience you will be able to closely see lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, hyenas but also gazelles, giraffes and many other specimens.

Finally we point out the Hakuna Matata Safari; the tour of 7 days and 6 nights allows you to discover Lake Manyara and 3 of the main parks of northern Tanzania.
Ngorongoro, Serengeti and Tarangire are the stages touched during the week.
