Your adventure begins on the Shira Plateau 3,500 metres above sea level in Tanzania. Here, you can immerse yourself in the wild beauty of nature. Step out of the car, lace up your shoes and let yourself be enveloped by the sounds, smells and colours around you.
Following various paths and accompanied by an experienced guide, you can admire the majestic peak of Kilimanjaro, called Kibo, and its northern glaciers, when weather conditions permit. From here, you can also enjoy views of the vast plains of Kenya’s Amboseli National Park and the deep gorge of the Simba River, which contrast with the imposing bulk of the world’s highest mountain.
As you reach the northern rim of the Shira crater, you will have the opportunity to make short stops at various viewpoints, from which you can admire the volcanic cones that dot the landscape below. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a picnic lunch under the open sky, taking your time and hiking at a pace that suits you.
It is important to note that this hike is of moderate difficulty and does not require athlete fitness. However, at this altitude of 3,500 metres, the air is thinner, so it is advisable to take it easy, soak in the beauty of the unspoilt views and enjoy the majesty of Kilimanjaro.
After about four hours of hiking, or earlier if you feel tired, you can end your adventure.
